POSITION TITLE: Clinician – Residential FLSA: Exempt
SUPERVISOR: Regional Program Director Job Code: NA
OVERVIEW : The Residential Clinician is to provide culturally responsive, strength-based, trauma informed behavioral health services to youth and young adults in foster care who reside in Unity Care’s THP program. This position provides trauma-informed individual and group therapy, and consultation to collateral team members. Under the supervision of the Clinical Program Manager, this person will provide services that are aligned with UCG’s service model and clinical philosophy.
As with all UC staff, this position is responsible for adhering to the performance standards set forth in the UC Staff Employee and UC policies and procedures.
DIRECT REPORTS : None
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  1. Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with at-risk youth or adolescent children in a therapeutic role
  2. Degree in a Behavioral Science such as Social Work (MSW) or Counseling Psychology (MA or MS)
  3. Registered, Licensed or Licensed-waivered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)
  4. Minimum 4 years’ experience in delivering Medi-Cal EPSDT services to clients aged 16 years to 21 years.
  5. Strong understanding and skill in Medi-Cal documentation requirements, using an electronic health records system.
  6. Understanding of productivity and billing standards.
  7. Training and skills in EPSDT assessment, diagnosis, and treatment delivery methods
  8. Organization, time management and team partnership skills
Preferred:
  1. Bilingual/ Bicultural (Spanish/English)
  2. Minimum of 1 year experience working with at-risk youth in a residential setting
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
  1. Gather assessment information, orients new clients, and writes reports and service plans in a timely manner in compliance with state and county Medi-Cal guidelines.
  2. Provide Trauma-Informed direct services including, case management, individual, group, and family therapy, case management, and rehab focused upon outcomes and interventions designed to promote independence.
  3. Work effectively with program staff to ensure relevance, accessibility, and quality of service provided to children and their families.
  4. Provide agency representation to county partners and other stakeholders in coordination of the clinical care of the assigned caseload.
  5. Manage case files with timely and accurate documentation in electronic health records system, related to progress notes and billing.
  6. Demonstrates a high level of clinical competence with youth and young adults. Provides evidence-based, quality, culturally proficient and relevant therapeutic, educational, preventative and crisis services to children and their families in residential, community-based and in-home settings.
  7. Maintains professional standards regarding client rights. Demonstrates an understanding of confidentiality policies, mandated child abuse reporting and duty to warn procedures. Utilizes clinical supervision in any case where these issues are in question.
  8. Utilizes supervision, consultation, and training as necessary to continue to provide high quality services to youth and young adults as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  9. Meets organization’s productivity standards.
  10. Maintains a case load of approximately 11 to 16 clients, depending on client’s acuity and mental health needs.
  11. Supports clients and program staff with CFT and case management supports with social workers and probation officers.
  12. Organization Duties:
    1. Timely and accurate submission of timecards to supervisor
    2. Time away from the Office, Program and/or Home (i.e. vacations, personal time off, leaves of absence) must be pre-approved by supervisor and requested based on process outlined in the UC Employee Handbook.
    3. Maintain knowledge of staff handbook, policies, procedures, manuals, and pertinent documentation.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

  5. Identify negative disruptive behaviors and redirect behavior using mediation and de-escalation techniques.
  6. Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  7. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  8. Employee may be required to make or receive physical contact with clients and residents, such as in the process of delivering First Aid/CPR or de-escalation interventions.
  9. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  10. Must have CPR and First Aid certificate within 10 days of start date and maintain a current certificate with Human Resources.
  11. Must clear a Department of Justice background check including fingerprinting before start date and maintain clearance.
  12. Must be able to work in a DSS Community Care Licensed Facility.
  13. Must clear a health screening, including TB before start date and maintain clearance.
  14. Must have a car, valid California Driver License and be able to drive, have a clean driving record and maintain a clean driving record.
  15. Meet and maintain the minimum vehicle liability and property insurance limits (to be insured by our insurance carrier for using vehicle for business purposes such as transportation of residents or reimbursement of business-related mileage expenses).
